Tuckpointing leads everything we do — but a wall rarely needs only one repair, and a building rarely needs only masonry. Here is the work we take on and what each job actually involves. Commercial or residential, large or small.
Masonry first
These are the masonry trades we lead with, and they cover the great majority of what we are called out for across Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
Failed mortar is how water gets into a brick wall. We grind the deteriorated joints out to depth and repoint them with fresh mortar matched to the existing work, so the wall sheds water again and the repair disappears into the facade.

Brick that has cracked, spalled or come loose gets cut out and replaced. Where a parapet or a section of facade has moved past repair, we take it down and rebuild it properly — the same coursing, sound mortar, straight lines. Facade work is not limited to brick: we restore any type of facade, on a house or a commercial building.

Chimneys take the worst of a Chicago winter. We rebuild them from the roofline up, reset clay flue liners, rebuild crowns and repoint the brick that is still sound — so the stack is safe, straight and weather-tight.

A rusting steel lintel expands and lifts the brick above your windows and doors. We replace or repair the failing steel and rebuild the masonry around the opening before the movement travels further up the wall.

Concrete and cinder block is its own trade: different units, different mortar, different coursing from brick. We lay new block, repair and repoint block that has failed, and tie block work in cleanly with the brick around it.
Glass block is masonry, not glazing: the units are laid in mortar the same way brick is, which is why it is our work rather than a window company's. It is the usual answer for a Chicago opening where you want daylight through the wall without a window that opens.
