Tuckpointing
Mortar joint grinding and repointing — the repair that keeps water out.
Family-run · Chicago & Suburbs
Alcantar's Tuckpointing restores and protects brick, stone and masonry across Chicago — expert tuckpointing, chimney and parapet rebuilds, lintel and facade restoration, done right and built to last.
Masonry leads, and the same crew carries the rest of the job: block work and glass block windows, flat roofing, gutters, windows and doors, general construction. Commercial or residential, large or small.

What we do
Tuckpointing is in the name, and mortar joints are where most brick problems start. We repoint, handle brick repair across Chicago, rebuild chimneys and parapets, replace the failing steel lintels above your windows, and lay block and glass block. When a building needs more than masonry, the same crew keeps going — homes and commercial buildings across Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

Who we work for
City two-flats and greystones, suburban single-family homes, and commercial brick buildings — all of it is on the same crew's schedule, large jobs and small.

Repointing, brick replacement, chimney rebuilds and lintel repairs on everything from a Chicago two-flat to a suburban colonial — finished so the repair reads as part of the house.

Long runs of commercial wall worked from rolling scaffold, parapet rebuilds and facade repairs — scheduled around how the building is used.

Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The crew works across the city — dense blocks of two-flats and greystones — as well as single-family homes and commercial buildings in the suburbs.
Tuckpointing is the repair of the mortar joints between bricks. The deteriorated mortar is ground out to a consistent depth and packed with fresh mortar, matched to the color and texture of the existing joints. The brick itself stays; it is the mortar that has failed, and it is the mortar that keeps water out of the wall.
