Questions about brick, mortar and estimates

Short, straight answers. If yours is not here, call or text either owner — we would rather talk it through than have you guess.

Frequently asked

  • What areas do you serve?

Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The crew works across the city — dense blocks of two-flats and greystones — as well as single-family homes and commercial buildings in the suburbs.

  • What exactly is tuckpointing?

Tuckpointing is the repair of the mortar joints between bricks. The deteriorated mortar is ground out to a consistent depth and packed with fresh mortar, matched to the color and texture of the existing joints. The brick itself stays; it is the mortar that has failed, and it is the mortar that keeps water out of the wall.

  • Do you speak Spanish?

Yes — se habla español. Both owners are bilingual, so you can call, text or talk through the job in English or Spanish. This site is available in Spanish too, from the language button in the header.

  • Do you charge for estimates?

No. Estimates are free. Call or text either owner, or send the estimate form on this site, and we will come out and look at the work.

  • What kinds of work do you take on?

Masonry leads: tuckpointing, brick and facade repair, parapet and chimney rebuilds, block work, glass block windows, and lintel work above windows and doors. Beyond the masonry we also handle flat roofing, gutter installation and cleaning, window and door replacement, and general construction — commercial or residential, large jobs or small ones.

  • Do you work on both homes and commercial buildings?

Yes — residential and commercial. The gallery on this site shows both: city two-flats and suburban homes alongside commercial brick buildings.

  • What is the fastest way to get a price?

Text a photo of the damage to either owner. A picture of the wall, chimney or window opening tells us a great deal before anyone drives out, and it is the quickest way to get a real answer.

Still have a question?

Both numbers reach an owner. Describe what you are seeing, or send a photo by text — it is the quickest way to a real answer.
